Meet our 2012 Babies in Beanies – Canberra Wedding and Portrait Photographer

Well it’s that time of year to show off all of our beautiful babies for 2012 – a 103 in total! Tess and I have really enjoyed photographing all of these little lovelies and I think it will be very hard to pick a winner. Remember this is a fundraiser for the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation so share this link with family and friends and encourage them to make a donation for sponsorship. Only today I heard that one of the mum’s from this year’s competition is in hospital as we speak and her 28 week old bub is in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. It’s a great cause and together we can all make a difference.

Yesterday saw the start of our 2012 Babies in Beanies and the weather sure put on a show for us. We managed to avoid the rain for most of the shoots but man was it cold! There were some divine little divas who new how to work it for the camera and as you will see, some not so willing. Here are a few of our gorgeous bubs – You may even recognise a few there a lots of entrants from previous years. Enjoy!

Anthony and Kate’s Wedding – Canberra Wedding Photographer

Anthony and Kate decided on a very intimate wedding with a simple rustic theme. Lanyon Homestead was the perfect place for such a wedding. I love Lanyon – it’s such a beautiful setting for a wedding – a photographer’s dream really with it’s multitude of buildings and gardens. What made it even more fun was Anthony and Kate’s ‘up for anything’ attitude. We got some great images using some old vintage cases and a box brownie camera that Kate and Anthony brought along for the shoot. I hope all Kate’s family back in Canada enjoy the images. PS. Isn’t Kate’s son Alec to die for – I think he will be breaking a few hearts along the way! Wishing Kate and Anthony a fantastic future together.

Babies in Beanies 2012 – Registrations are open!

With the launch of the 4th annual Babies In Beanies photo competition, Snowgum Studio is looking for Canberra’s Cutest Baby in a Beanie! The competition was established to raise funds for the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation (NCIF), a local Canberra charity which assists in the development of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Canberra Hospital. To date we have raised over $20,000 for the foundation. The Babies In Beanies competition is open to all children aged 0-5 years with babies being photographed at Canberra’s picturesque Snowgum Studio. Our studio has an indoor and unique outdoor studio which is perfect to capture all the little cuties at this beautiful stage in their lives.

I am passionate about supporting the NICF after my Canberra based sister, had to go to Sydney for the birth of her premature twins because of lack of resources in the Neonatal Intensive Unit at Canberra Hospital. …the children have thrived and are now happy and healthy, but there are many more families and babies who need these valuable services in the Canberra Region every day.

The Unit admits approximately 650 babies each year, more than 150 of whom require assisted ventilation using sophisticated equipment not available elsewhere. The Babies In Beanies competition will raise funds specifically for equipment needed by the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the Canberra Hospital.

Parents can enter their children in the competition online (link at the bottom of this post). There is a $40 entry fee of which $30 will be donated to the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation to purchase much needed equipment. The winner of the competition will be featured on the front cover of the Canberra Weekly on 7th June. The winning Baby and the winning sponsorship baby will receive a large framed portrait from Snowgum Studio, a gift from Little Living and a gorgeous new Beanie from Ruby Q Kidswear .

SOME IMPORTANT CHANGES THIS YEAR

If you have entered Babies in Beanies in the past there are some important changes you should be aware of. Due to other work commitments we have modified the competition the following way:-

1. There will be no online public voting – the winner will be decided by the Canberra Weekly Magazine and Snowgum Studio – you will however be able to view the entered images on the Snowgum Studio Website.

2. There will be one prize for the winning baby and one for the contestant who has raised the most sponsorship.

3. We will not be hosting a presentation ceremony this year – the winning baby will be announced in the Canberra Weekly on 7th June.

4. There are only 4 weekday sessions available this year, Tuesday 24th April, Thursday 26th April, Tuesday 1st May, Thursday 3rd May.

Babies in Beanies 2012 – Terms and Conditions – Canberra photographer

Competition Terms and conditions:

1. The entry fee is $40, $30 of this and all sponsorship money will be donated to the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation. The remaining $10 will be used to cover costs. 2. You will need to bring your own beanie along – however we will have a range of beanies at Snowgum Studio that you may purchase. 3. As the legal guardian or parent of the entrant you are giving permission for these images to be available in a public forum online and for the images to be used for any post-competition publicity required and agrees for their baby’s image to be used by Snowgum Studio to publicise this competition, and any other promotional literature. 4. The closing date for the competition is Thursday 3^rd May, 2012. 5. Each photographic session is 10 minutes. A single booking of $40 entry represents one session. You are entitled to enter multiple children but they must appear in the same photo if only one session is booked and paid for. 6. Your ‘baby’ must be between 0-5 years old (inclusive) when their photograph is taken. 7. All photos entered into the competition will be taken by Snowgum Studio at their Studio located at 8239 Monaro Hwy Williamsdale, on the following dates: Tuesday 24^th April, Thursday 26^th April, Tuesday 1^st May, Thursday 3^rd between 9:30 am and 11:30am. 8. Sessions will be 10 minutes each and bookings are essential. 9. To enter you will need to call Snowgum Studio (ph: 02 62350005) to book in your session time and make your payment. 10. All contestants will be issued with a Sponsorship form – parents are encouraged to get sponsorship for their child to raise additional funds for the foundation. 11. The baby who raises the most sponsorship will win a 16×20” framed portrait of their child – this will be the image used for the competition. 12. You will be required to be ready for your photo shoot at the time of the booking. It is advisable to arrive at least 10-15 minutes before your booked time so that your child can become comfortable with their surroundings. 13. Entrants without a confirmed and paid booking will not be accepted on the day. 14. Copyright for all of the images remains the property of Snowgum Studio. 15. No cameras or recording devices are permitted during the portrait session. 16. You must be the baby’s parent, or legal guardian, or have the written permission of the parent, or legal guardian to enter the competition. 17. There will be no online voting – the winner will be selected by Snowgum Studio and The Canberra Weekly Magazine. 18. The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 19. The winner will be announced in the Canberra Weekly Magazine’s first winter edition on Thursday 7^th June, 2012. There will not be a presentation ceremony. 20. The winner will appear on the front cover of the Canberra Weekly Magazine on 7^th June and will also receive a framed 16×20” portrait of the winning image from Snowgum Studio, a gift from Little Living and new beanie from Ruby Q Kids Wear. 21. The entrant who independently raised the most money will be awarded best sponsor of the year and will receive a framed 16×20” portrait of their entered image, a gift from Little Living and a new beanie from Ruby Q Kidswear. 22. Your child’s behavior on the day will not be the responsibility of the photographer. If another session needs to be booked, it will have to be re-booked and paid for on an available date online at Snowgum Studio. 23. The image selected for voting is at the discretion of the photographer and this will be the image that is printed for you. 24. The printed image will be posted to you by 7^th June, 2012. 25. Your baby’s sponsorship form must be returned with all monies owing at the time of your portrait session. 2. You may purchase additional prints of your child. These will be available for viewing online for one week only from Thursday 17^th May, 2012 until Wednesday 23^rd May 2012. 30. Entry assumes acceptance of these terms & conditions.
